Lady GaGa vs Madonna - Born To Express Yourself This Way, Baby (Denjo Mash)

Heya folks!

Seems like there is absolutely NO escape from GaGa's epic gay LGBT anthem "Born This Way" these days, be it on the radio, TV, innernets ... everywhere. And by now it's starting to get annoying, which is really sad 'cos this song is so important in its message.

As it is by now a stated fact that BTW is a "tribute" (others even say rip-off) to Madonna's 1989 classic and evenly epic anthem and there are many mash's floating round the net. What bothered me though was that I couldn't get my hands on a copy in decent or at least half good quality. And so I took to (re-)make it myself ...

Tracklist:

Main Version  5.01

Radio Edit  4.06

GaGa Vox Acapella  5.01

Launch Day!

I'll be giving you my most recent fav tracks once a month (or so), all in HDM:

Glee Cast                Hey, Soul Sister

- My love for Glee constantly grows and I instantly fell for Darren Criss' rendition of Train's song, which I didn't know before the Glee track and right now it's on the radio every day.

Glee Cast                Thriller / Heads Will Roll

- Although just about 3.36 mins long, it is a well done mash up; loves it!

Glee Cast                She's Not There

- I knew this song as a remix on the soundtrack of "Kill Bill", but never knew the original. Glee's version is far better and more dynamic.

Kite                  A Little More Time (Edit)

- One of my new discoveries is Electro-Pop band Kite. Loving this track, put in a more friendly length.

Lady Antebellum            Need You Now

- The Grammy Record of the Year. Good one, though I usually can't get with country.

Lena                Push Forward & Taken By A Stranger

- Both songs from her new album and def singles to be, the latter will be the official Eurovision Song Contest entry for Germany. Won't win her Top 10 though.

McFly                Shine A Light

- Though it says on the iTunes file that it features Taio Cruz, but I can't hear him. Maybe they dislabled it!? Great track though, instantly catchy.

Roxette                Speak To Me

- This is going to be the 2nd single of their new and fabulous album CHARM SCHOOL. Great one. Bought tix for the Cologne show in June!

Tinie Tempah ft. Eric Turner        Written in the stars

- Stumbled over this by accident. And instantly loved it. Gonne be huge!

FrankMusik            Fear Inside Of Me

- The HOTTEST new single at the moment. Instant replay.

I Blame Coco            Self Machine

- The lead singer's the daughter of Sting. I saw them on a TV show and loved the song, the world needs to hear it!!

All tracks in H.Q. with proper ID3-tags.

You'll find international chart-toppers as well as some pretty unknown artists.
If you were looking for a different retrospective in POP music - look no further.

=o)

All tracks have been given the HDM treatment, sometimes it even sounds better than the regular iTunes file (which isn't that hard, given the basic quality).

All in all you'll get 5 discs with 20 tracks each, a total of 100 supreme POP songs (IMO).

To avoid monitoring I decided to post the tracklist as pics:

Glee - The Music .. The Best So Far

Since I first got a hold on the first season of GLEE I'm in love with it! Just like the rest of the world.
IMO it's one of the best TV shows EVER, I can't recall a show where I cried, laughed and sang along with each episode .... GLEE makes me happy. Nothing short of that. Ryan Murphy is a GOD to me for creating this. If I had a say I would make the entire world population watch the entire season 1 at least twice. After that I think we can seriously talk about world peace. *lol*

So I took on all my favorites from season 1 and 2 (so far) and gave them the HDM treatment.
HDM itself is now in V 2.6.8, got some new toys to play with and the result is really exciting! Try it on a 5.1 system if you have the chance ... killer!

So go to the Blog Loads folder on my Mediafire account and grab it!

Madonna - Rare + Bare

A few weeks ago a literal flood of Madonna demo's & previously unreleased material rocked the internezz, which made particularly happy, 'coz I'm a sucker for all things Madonna.

The leaks included material from her 2008 album HARD CANDY as well as works from 2000's MUSIC and 2003's AMERICAN LIFE plus there are finally more songs recorded for the
never realized musical (post Re-Invention Tour, 2004) and I have fallen in love with them so, sooo much. The lyrics she wrote for those songs are so much better than everything on HARD CANDY, for example. I wish she would do an album with songs like this. Why she chose the crappy SPANISH LESSON over the powerful ANIMAL or the beautiful LELA PALA TUTE (which makes the whole integration of the chorus into LA ISLA BONITA much more plausible) is beyond me. But all the better that those tracks are out now. I hope there are more demos and unreleased material coming our way.

Thanks to Gabriel for sending me the leaks!

Okay, so I took to the tracks (and then some) and gave it my best digital re-touch ... and I think I've managed to get quite the exquisite output (after approx. 12 passes, I think).
I have seen various fan-releases on so many blogs featuring those songs, but the best quality available on all the internezz you have right here, fellas!
Check the soundcloud - previews below!

So let's see what Wikipedia has to say about those leaked tracks:
(oh, and this is also the tracklisting)

1.    ACROSS THE SKY, a reported collaboration with Justin Timberlake, Danja and Timbaland. A nine-second low-quality a capella clip was leaked onto the internet in 2009,
the full song leaked on 21 January 2010. An earlier version labelled as "Take 1" leaked on 5 September 2010. (source: wikipedia)

Madonna - Across The Sky - ft. Justin Timberlake (Take 1) by POP Kicks

2.    ANIMAL, is another Timbaland out-take, which suggests that at some point Hard Candy was set to head in a much darker direction. The full song leaked onto the internet on 6 September 2010. (source: wikipedia)

Madonna - Animal (Hard Candy Out-Take) by POP Kicks

3.    LELA PALA TUTE, a reported collaboration with Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and Danja. The full demo leaked onto the internet on 7 September 2010 under the wrong name "Latte". Timbaland mentioned the song during an interview with MTV, then calling it "La La". He has also been heard describing the song as "Coffee Song". The chorus is sung in Romani and incorporates lyrics from the song "Pala Tute" by Gogol Bordello. It has been said that Timbaland misunderstood the lyrics of the chorus, erroneously assuming that it was about coffee. A final version of the song exists, with slightly different instrumentation and additional vocals by Justin Timberlake. (source: wikipedia)

Madonna - Lela Pala Tute (Hard Candy Out-Take) by POP Kicks

4.    SET THE RIGHT, a song produced by Mirwais and recorded during the American Life sessions. It was later suggested to be titled as "To the Left, To the Right" without further proof or citation.
The song leaked in full as "Set the Right" on Internet on September 18, 2010. (source: wikipedia)

5.    BROKEN was mentioned by Paul Oakenfold, said to be another track recorded for the compilation. The song features elements of her previous singles "Sorry" and "Miles Away", both lyrically and in the production. The full song leaked onto the internet on 6 September 2010. (source: wikipedia)

Madonna - Broken (Celebration Out-Take) by POP Kicks

6.    BEAT GOES ON (Early Version), leaked onto the internet in August 2007. It features significantly different lyrics and musical structure from the album version. It should be noted that the Kanye West rap present in the released version was recorded after this demo leaked. (source: wikipedia)

7.    INFINITY, an early version of Give It 2 Me. The full song leaked onto the internet on September 3, 2010. It features similar lyrics, but the musical structure is completely different compared to the released version. It has been suggested that this early recording was produced by Timbaland and Timberlake, and that an alternate version with added elements also exists. (source: wikipedia)

8.    IT'S SO COOL (2009 Demo Remix)

9.    IT'S SO COOL (2002 Demo), is a song originally written with Mirwais and Monte Pittman and a remixed version by Paul Oakenfold appears as an iTunes-only bonus track on Madonna's greatest hits compilation Celebration. In an interview for the June 2009 Têtu Magazine Mirwais stated that: "We still have some tracks we're supposed to do together. Especially one that I really like, a very folkish song, but her last album (Hard Candy) had a more R&B sound." It is suspected he was in fact talking about the demo "Cool Song". Mirwais was commissioned to rework this track initially recorded with Madonna for the American Life album for the Celebration album. Madonna chose to use Oakenfold's version; however, Mirwais' 2002 and 2009 version leaked onto the internet in full on 31 August 2010. (source: wikipedia)

10.    MISS YOU

11.    IS THIS LOVE? (Bon D'accord)

12.    THE GAME

13.    IF YOU GO AWAY, among a number of songs written for a planned musical "Hello Suckers", a 20s-style musical loosely based on the life of Texas Guinan. Songs were written with a number of co-writers including Patrick Leonard and Mirwais Ahmadzai. Lyrics from "How High" were later reworked into a song for Confessions on a Dance Floor. Some lyrics from "Is This Love" were later re-used on the song "Voices" on the album Hard Candy.
"The Devil Wouldn't Recognize You" was planned to be included on The Re-Invention Tour, but was later reworked with Madonna's brother-in-law Joe Henry. Ultimately, the song did not surface until the album Hard Candy
following further development with Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and Nate Hills. "Is this Love (Bon D'Accord)", has since been leaked to the internet."If You Go Away" is based on the classic "Ne me quitte pas" by Jaques Brel.
The English version has been covered by a wide range of artists, including Marlene Dietrich, Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones. Madonna's version leaked onto the internet on 2 September 2010. Miss You was also planned for the
musical and has more of an acoustic folk feel to it and leaked onto the internet on 3 September 2010, some lyrics were later re-used on the song "Like It or Not" from the album Confessions on a Dance Floor. (source: wikipedia)

14.    I'M IN LOVE WITH LOVE, a song supposedly written with Mirwais and Monte Pittman during the 2004 Re-Invention World Tour. It was actually recorded between American Life and the "”Post Re-Invention Tour Musicals"". To confuse this timeline, the individual who leaked the song mixed it with the original "I Love New York" outro from I'm Going To Tell You A Secret. Both of these tracks are indicative of the sound originally conceptualised for the next album, before the project evolved into what became Confessions On A Dancefloor. The full song leaked on Internet on 20 September 2010. A low-quality clip of an alternate version with different lyrics has leaked, as well. (source: wikipedia)

15.    LIKE A FLOWER, the demo of this song leaked onto the Internet around 2003. It was later given to Italian singer Laura Pausini and re-titled "Mi Abbandono A Te" for her 2004 album "Resta In Ascolto" (source: wikipedia)

16.    LITTLE GIRL, recorded during the Music sessions. The full song leaked onto the internet on 18 September 2010. (source: wikipedia)

17.    DROWNED WORLD (William Orbit Instrumental Demo)

18.    SECRET GARDEN (Demo)

19.    HOLIDAY (1982 Demo)

20.    ???

POP Kicks presents: Perfection Vol. 2 (Compilation #2)

Back Again!
Finally I found the time to work on some projects again. Life gets in the way sometimes, y'know.

First up is Volume 2 of POP Kicks' compilation, assembling the finest in POP right now (from a rather personal point of view), PERFECTION.
My favourite music at this time and because eventually I stopped following all the Top 40-60-100, whatever, there might very well be some bands and songs that you might not know of - but definitely should - as a fellow pop maniac. So check it out and love the music. And if not, there's always good ol' DEL.

Let me share a little more detail on some of the tracks that I really want to just get out there
and be as infectious to everyone as they were to me.

Special notice should be taken of a previously unreleased remix of "Your Body Is A Machine" from THE GOOD NATURED. The original version is slightly more sinister and not as dynamic as the exquisit Get People Remix, which is managing to stay reverberantly sombre somewhere afloat on one of the dark basses and synths that loom in the background.

Another absolutely brilliant tune is "A New Word To Say" by british band BRIGHT LIGHT BRIGHT LIGHT (weird name by the way). The original version comes along a lot more popish, for my own taste a teensy weensy, little toooo much pop, though. But I instantly loved the James Yuill Remix, it catches on right from a somewhat hypnotic intro into a mellow but bass-driven coolness of a song. Just today I noticed over again how it still is stuck in my head, playing along ...
The original as well as the James Yuill Remix (plus another remix, I think) are available free to load from the bands' (but it is just one guy, right?!) website w w w brightlightx2 com (fill the blanks with dots when copying it into your browser and delete the blanks between the 'w's) - you must register for getting the tracks, though.

Sort-of Boyband HOT CHELLE RAE's debut single "Bleed", which I heard somewhere on the innernezs and finding myself unable to forget the haunting chorus of, is a born winner. It's a clever produced Class A pop ballad, and I bet it'll be on top of at least 1 global music chart. I guess teenage girls will cry and woo the 4 boys way up the charts and out there.
By the way, are they casted?! Or did their record label make them have a complete makeover, as the 4 are looking like designed in categories to match the current teen's taste.

MIKE POSNER, who was also featured on PERFECTION Vol. 1, has finally made it to the well deserved spotlight, and I think he's gonna stay there for some time.
His first official album "31 Minutes To Take Off" is not as good and less inventive than the 2 albums(mixtapes) he posted for free on his own website. If you have the chance, compare them by downloading "One Foot Out The Door" and "Matter Of Time" from Mike's website, w w w mikeposner com.
The follow-up to his charter "Cooler Than Me", "Please Don't Go", catches on as easy as the first and is great radio material.

One of the big hits this summer is definitely PLAN B's "She Said" taken from the concept album "The Defamation of Strickland Banks", which tells the story of alter ego Strickland Banks who's framed for murder. Because all tracks are alike, you can get tired to listen to it and B's high notes aiming (not always succeeding, though) voice started to annoy me at some point. When listening to single tracks it's not like that at all, I especially love the tracks "Prayin'" and "Welcome To Hell".

Another brand new group that's definitely worth keeping an eye on is GRAVITONAS from Sweden. Founded by Alexander Bard, best known for his former band ARMY OF LOVERS, it promises some really great POP tunes in the near future when they'll drop their debut album. "Kites", their debut single, is already on its way to become a Euro-wide
smash hit.

Rounding up this mix are some well known names, like EMINEM, RIHANNA, SONO, BLACK EYED PEAS, MUSE, KEVIN RUDOLF and others.

And finally I just like to add that it is feeling universally awesome that one of my newest POP heroes, HURTS, are taking off real quick to their (already rightfully achieved by writing the instant classic "Wonderful Life") Top Position in POP History.
The material that was previously available on the internet (demos? most likely) sounded very promising, throwing in a heavy 80's feel which was unexpectedly working pretty well for the whole thing as it is with their official first international single "Better Than Love". Quite a stunner it is, taking you instantly.

So now I'll stop blabbing and hope everyone enjoys this tracks as much as I do.

Simon Curtis - 8bit Heart

If I ever felt the urge to recommend a record (besides a Madonna album), this is it!

Simon Curtis' 8BIT HEART is just f***ing genius, awesomely good!

Seriously, grab it - hear it - love it - share it!

It's that good ...

I amped the sound a little, comes out gr8 on a 5.1 system. And yes, the bass is supposed to be

as attacking as it is! Play it L-O-U-D!

I also mixed all tunes together in a seperate "continuous mix" and did a complete artwork design,

including a 14 page booklet w/ lyrics!

Blake Lewis - Selections

Blake Lewis was the runner up in American Idol's 7th season in 2008, which Jordin Sparks won.

I really like his music, his debut album "Audio Daydream" was really good but his sophomore release, "Heartbreak On Vinyl" is infectious pop/electronica at its best! It's a shame though, that he didn't break through as big as he would definitely deserve it.

I assembled a little selection of my fav trax from his 2 albums, be sure to check it out if you don't already know Blake Lewis.

A lot of his songs are (co-)written by Ryan Tedder, who I consider to be one of pop's best writers / producers in a long time.

MUST LISTEN TO:  Sad Song, Surrender, Love or Torture, Binary Love, The Remedy, Hate 2 Love Her

FEATURED TRACKS:
